Yellow-throated Seedeater

Crithagra flavigula (Salvadori, 1888)

Fringillidae — Finches, Euphonias

Yellow-throated Seedeater, Crithagra flavigula, is a finch in the Fringillidae family that lives in western and central Ethiopia, especially in steep montane scrub. It is also found in dry shrubland and dry lowland grassland, and it favours semi-desert country with dense scrub on rocky slopes, scattered trees in savannah-like areas, and higher ground rather than lowlands. It was once placed in Serinus, but later moved to Crithagra after DNA studies showed the earlier genus did not form a natural group.
