Yellow-throated Spadebill, Platyrinchus flavigularis, is a passerine of the tyrant flycatcher family that breeds in South America from western Venezuela to eastern Peru. It was described by Sclater in 1862. The bird lives in the undergrowth of foothill and montane forest, and in Ecuador it is linked with ridgetops where the forest has a more open lower layer. It is a year-round resident. Adults show a bright yellow throat, a mostly pale yellow underside, a large head and a short tail, with both sexes and subspecies alike.
