Yellow-throated Sparrow, Gymnoris xanthocollis, is a sparrow of dry woods and gardens across the Palearctic and Oriental Region, from south-eastern Turkey and neighbouring parts of the Middle East through Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India to western Bengal and the southern tip of the Indian Peninsula. It is a tree-loving bird, and its plumage is set apart by a fine bill, an unmarked pattern, a white double wing bar and, in males, a chestnut shoulder patch with a pale yellow throat spot. Females are plainer and the throat marking is reduced or absent.
