Yellow-tufted Dacnis

Dacnis egregia

The Yellow-tufted Dacnis, scientifically known as Dacnis egregia, is a small passerine bird found in the tropical forests of South America. This species is known for its vibrant plumage, with males displaying a striking combination of bright blue and yellow colors, while females have a more subdued greenish appearance. Yellow-tufted Dacnis are often observed foraging for insects and fruits in the forest canopy, where they are agile and acrobatic flyers. Despite their colorful appearance, these birds can be elusive due to their preference for dense foliage.
