Dicaeum virescens
The Yellow-vented Flowerpecker is a small passerine bird found in Southeast Asia. It is known for its vibrant plumage, with males displaying a bright yellow vent and females having a more subdued coloration. These birds are often found in forested areas, including both primary and secondary growth, as well as gardens and cultivated areas. They primarily feed on nectar, fruits, and insects, using their specialized bill to extract nectar from flowers. The Yellow-vented Flowerpecker plays a role in pollination and seed dispersal within its ecosystem. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation are potential threats to its populations.
