Yellow-winged Blackbird, Agelasticus thilius, is a passerine of the Icteridae family that breeds in south-western and south-central South America. It occurs in marshes and other wetland areas, especially among reed beds, and also uses nearby grassland and cultivated land. Its breeding range includes Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Peru and Bolivia, with separate populations in different parts of the region. The species is marked by sexual dimorphism, and adult males of the nominate form are almost wholly black with yellow on the wing coverts that gives the bird its English name.
