Myiarchus yucatanensis
The Yucatan Flycatcher is a small to medium-sized bird found in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, Belize, and northern Guatemala. It has a distinctive olive-brown upper body and a yellowish belly, with a noticeable white eye ring. This species is often observed perching on exposed branches or wires, from where it sallies out to catch insects in mid-air. It prefers semi-open habitats such as forest edges, scrublands, and gardens. The Yucatan Flycatcher is known for its melodious and repetitive song, often heard during the breeding season. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation could pose future conservation concerns for this species.
