Yungas Manakin

Chiroxiphia boliviana

The Yungas Manakin is a small, colorful bird found in the cloud forests of Bolivia. Males have striking plumage with a bright blue crown, black throat, and vibrant orange underparts. Females are more subdued in color, with olive-green upperparts and yellowish underparts. These birds are known for their elaborate courtship displays, where males perform acrobatic dances to attract females. Yungas Manakins feed on insects and berries and are often found in the dense undergrowth of the forest. They are vulnerable to habitat loss due to deforestation and are considered near threatened by the IUCN.
