Zappey's Flycatcher

Cyanoptila cumatilis Thayer & Bangs, 1909

Zappey's Flycatcher, Cyanoptila cumatilis, is a passerine in the Muscicapidae family that breeds in central and eastern China and moves south for the non-breeding season to the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Java. It was described by Thayer and Bangs in 1909. It is closely related to the blue-and-white flycatcher, but the two were once treated as a single species. Males show greener blue upperparts and a greenish-black face and breast, while females are greyish-brown with a white throat. Immature males combine features of both sexes.
