Zigzag Heron, Zebrilus undulatus, is a heron of the Amazonia region in South America, where it occurs in swampy habitats. It belongs to the family Ardeidae and is the only member of Zebrilus. The bird was first described in 1789 by Gmelin. Adults have grey plumage with fine zigzag patterning and a pale underside, while young birds show a dark back with a brown head and underparts. It is a secretive bird that remains concealed in dense cover, even when feeding.
