Small-Group Eastern Bolivia Tour
A small-group 13-day route combining Bolivia's Beni forests and savannas with the dry Chaco around Camiri, estimated at 350-400 species.
About this tour
This small-group 13-day journey combines two contrasting and comparatively remote birding regions in eastern Bolivia. The Beni section starts with a flight from La Paz to Riberalta for Masked Antpitta and other birds of savanna, cerrado and rainforest. A long drive then reaches Sadiri Lodge in Madidi National Park, where three full days are set aside for forest birding.
From Sadiri, the itinerary travels to Trinidad and uses the available field time in gallery forest before a morning search for Blue-throated Macaw. After flying to Santa Cruz, the second half moves south to Camiri. Two full days cover Chaco country toward Argentina and foothill woodland north of town, bringing spiny scrub, dry forest and open habitats into the route. The official estimate for the complete tour is 350-400 species.
The program is rated moderate and includes transfers of about ten hours and six and a half hours. Trails at Sadiri range from easy lower paths to more strenuous ridge walking, while much of the Chaco birding is conducted along flatter roadsides. June through November is the listed season, although weather and road access vary between Beni and Chaco.
