Explore Huila with Andres Felipe Algarra Ceron, a Neiva-based biologist and professional tourism guide with particular knowledge of the department's tropical dry forest. Andres guides in Spanish and is a member of the Huila Ornithological Association.
This is a flexible private birding service rather than a fixed circuit. Depending on season, access, weather and the group's priorities, a route may visit private civil-society nature reserves, the Tatacoa Desert, botanical gardens, wetlands, or other important ecosystems in northern, central and western Huila. Options range from a half-day or full-day outing to a multi-day plan or several separate excursions. Advance notice is required so the route and logistics can be coordinated.
Transport can be included when agreed in advance. Andres can collect and move up to four guests in his own vehicle; larger groups, up to a preferred maximum of 15 participants, require additional transport. Food, site entrance fees and specialized equipment are not included, although Andres can help coordinate these services before the outing. Duration, meeting point, transport requirements and the current guiding fee are confirmed for each inquiry. Glossy Ibis remains a representative BirdWatch target, but the birds encountered depend on the selected habitats and field conditions, and no specific sighting can be guaranteed.
