About this tour
Explore Cyprus with an English-speaking local bird expert on a private day arranged around your interests. BirdLife Cyprus offers outings for one to four participants, with the route chosen to suit the season and the birds you hope to observe. The day can last up to eight hours, counting collection and return as part of that time. Two- and three-day arrangements are also available for visitors who want more time in the field.
The island offers different birding opportunities through the year. Spring and autumn bring migrating birds, while winter wetlands can attract Greater Flamingos. Cyprus Wheatear, Cyprus Warbler and Cyprus Scops Owl are the island's endemic breeding species; Black Francolin and Spur-winged Lapwing are other regional specialties. These are examples of the island's birdlife rather than a promised sightings list: the guide selects appropriate habitats and stops for the particular outing. Tours currently cover the part of Cyprus outside the north of the island.
The published daily rate is EUR 300 for one participant, EUR 450 for two, or EUR 550 for three or four, including VAT. A private guide, transport between birding sites, site admissions and a copy of the Birdwatching in Cyprus guidebook are included. Accommodation collection and return are arranged with the operator; confirm the collection location and any location-related extra charge when requesting the outing. Flights, accommodation, meals, airport transfers, insurance and equipment rental are separate.
Beginners and experienced birders can take part. Bring binoculars, a field guide, suitable walking shoes, a refillable water bottle and clothing appropriate to the weather, including sun protection. Equipment rental can be arranged at additional cost. BirdLife Cyprus directs the profits from these tours toward habitat protection and restoration, bird research and education, so the outing also contributes to its conservation work.
