About this tour
Leave Nuuk by cabin boat for a three-hour summer outing dedicated to Atlantic Puffins. The route heads south of the city toward a small island where the birds return from the open sea to breed.
Observation takes place from the boat. The crew follows local rules around the colony and handles the vessel carefully to reduce disturbance while guests watch birds on the water, in flight and around the nesting slope. Atlantic Puffins are the main focus, and Razorbills also nest at the site, so both species may be seen around the island. They remain wild, so weather, predators and natural activity affect every visit and sightings cannot be guaranteed.
A heated cabin with seating for all gives shelter from the Greenlandic weather, while the front deck offers an open view when conditions allow. The boat also has a toilet. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are provided, and guests may bring their own food.
Bring binoculars and a camera if you have them, together with warm layers, sturdy footwear, a hat and gloves. The local captain and guide work in English and Danish. Safety insurance and life jackets are included.

Day 1
Puffin watching south of Nuuk
Meet the crew at Tide Water Steps, board the heated cabin boat and sail south of Nuuk. Watch Atlantic Puffins from the water around the island where they breed during summer, with the captain keeping a respectful approach to the colony. Warm drinks are served aboard before the boat returns to Nuuk within the three-hour program.

Are puffin sightings guaranteed?
No. Atlantic Puffins are the purpose of the tour, but weather, predators and natural bird activity affect every visit.
What should I bring?

Can the departure be cancelled?
Nuuk Water Taxi reserves the right to cancel if fewer than four tickets have been sold.
