Ouma Oluoko
African Life-changing Informative Luxury Birding safaris
Hi, my name is Ouma Oluoko, CEO and lead guide at Oluokos Signature.
My love for birding began as a child growing up in Naivasha, where at the age of eight I first discovered the magic of watching birds in the wild. That early spark has grown into a lifelong passion that now shapes everything I do. As an experienced birding safari guide, conservationist, and tour operator, I have dedicated my career to ethical, responsible birding across East and Central Africa, always with deep respect for the ecosystems we explore and the indigenous communities who call these landscapes home.
At Oluokos Signature, we specialize in slow, immersive birding experiences designed for depth and appreciation rather than speed. This unhurried approach is especially meaningful for senior travelers and anyone who prefers thoughtful observation over rushing from spot to spot. It also creates the perfect conditions for exceptional bird photography: ample time to position yourself thoughtfully, anticipate behaviors, and capture species in natural, undisturbed moments.
We operate across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with a particular intimacy in Western Kenya; the region we proudly call home. Our team has contributed directly to conservation through field research, including the exciting discovery of the Bamboo Warbler as a new species record for Kenya; a milestone that reflects our ongoing commitment to understanding and protecting these remarkable habitats.
Every journey we create is fully tailor-made, built around your specific interests, comfort level, and travel style; whether your focus is pure bird listing, high-quality photography, or a rewarding blend of both. I place enormous value on genuine connections: with our guests, fellow guides, local partners, and the communities we work alongside. These relationships transform your birding safari from a simple trip into something truly memorable and enriching.
Beyond the field, I am a strongly grounded family man, and you will find me together with my wife and kids, hiking, cycling, or simply immersing ourselves in nature whenever we can. I live by a simple belief: travel opens your heart, expands your mind, and leaves you with stories that last a lifetime.
I would be honored to welcome you on the trails and share the wonders of Africa’s birds with you. Let’s make your next birding safari an extraordinary and a meaningful one.
