About this tour
Explore the seabird cliffs of Langanes on a guided outing that can be shaped around the birds you want to watch. A local guide takes you by jeep toward Skoruvíkurbjarg, with birding along the beaches and lakes encountered on the way.
At the cliffs, auks can be observed at close range, including Brünnich’s Guillemot. Nearby, Northern Gannets nest on the offshore rock of Stóri Karl and can be photographed from the mainland. The route also offers chances to look for Gyrfalcons, ptarmigans and Snow Buntings; sightings depend on the birds present during your visit.
The outing lasts approximately two and a half hours and is offered from May 1 to August 15. The usual departure is at 20:00, with another time possible by agreement. The standard group is two to four people; larger families can inquire about arrangements.
A local guide, jeep transport and a birding map are included. The tour is rated easy, but warm layers suitable for the weather and hiking boots are recommended for the coastal setting.
