About this tour
Set out from Mela Kothi - Chambal Safari Lodge for a private jeep safari through the wetland and agricultural landscape north of the Yamuna. The route is designed for serious birdwatchers and concentrates on the habitat used by Sarus Cranes and other wetland birds.
The Sarus Crane Conservation Reserve begins about 30 kilometres from the lodge and extends across a much wider area of low-lying wetlands interspersed with cultivated fields. Sarus Crane is the defining species, while the broader bird community varies with water levels, crop cycles and season. No individual sighting can be guaranteed.
