Private 5-Day North Waigeo Bird Photography Tour
A private five-day photography program on North Waigeo, with repeated early forest sessions for Wilson's and Red birds-of-paradise and island specialties.
About this tour
Photograph birds of paradise on a five-day private journey through North Waigeo in the Raja Ampat Islands. Sorong is the practical gateway, followed by a boat crossing to Waisai and short ground transfers to the island base. The program is built around repeated early-morning sessions, when display activity and forest light can offer the strongest opportunities.
Field days combine moderate forest walks with birding along Waigeo roads, trails and accessible lowland sites. Wilson's Bird-of-paradise and Red Bird-of-paradise are central photographic targets, while island forest may also produce parrots, pigeons, kingfishers and other regional specialties. The route returns to the same base between sessions, allowing equipment to be reorganized and the daily plan to respond to weather and bird activity.
This is a flexible private program rather than a fixed-departure checklist tour. Exact boat timing, accommodation, group size, inclusions and current price are confirmed after inquiry. Guests should expect very early starts, humid tropical conditions and uneven forest paths. No sighting is guaranteed, and the guide may change the order of visits when access, weather or current display activity makes another site more productive.

Begin before dawn for a moderate forest walk to habitat used by Wilson's Bird-of-paradise. Return to the base for a midday break, then continue birding along an accessible Waigeo trail or road in the afternoon.
Use another early start for a forest session focused on Red Bird-of-paradise. After the morning field period and rest, visit a different lowland site according to access and current activity.
Return to the most productive display area for a second photographic opportunity, then explore additional forest habitat around Waisai. The guide can adjust the order when weather or display activity favors another site.
