About this tour
This seven-day, six-night itinerary crosses several of Jamaica’s major birding habitats with Arrowhead Birding Tours. Starting near Kingston, it moves from the dry south-coast forest into cool Blue Mountain woodland, then reaches the wetter eastern forests around Portland before returning to the capital.
The route is designed around Jamaica’s 29 endemic birds while also leaving room for Caribbean specialties and seasonal migrants. Hellshire Hills can add dry-country birds such as Stolid Flycatcher and Bahama Mockingbird. In the highlands, field time focuses on species including Arrowhead Warbler, Blue Mountain Vireo, Crested Quail-Dove and Jamaican Blackbird.
Eastern rainforest brings the range of Black-billed Streamertail into the programme, together with Jamaican Crow and both Yellow-billed and Black-billed Parrots. A second day in the Blue Mountains and two eastern sessions provide useful repeat opportunities, but neither the complete endemic set nor any individual bird can be guaranteed.
The confirmed starting price is USD 3,200 per person. Six nights in double-occupancy accommodation, the stated meal sequence, transport, airport transfers, refreshments and guide/driver service are included. Alcoholic drinks and personal purchases are excluded. Winter often produces the higher overall count, with Arrowhead estimating about 110 species versus roughly 85 in summer; natural conditions still govern the result.

Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival and the Kingston briefing
Meet the arranged airport transfer and settle in around Kingston. Dinner with the guide introduces the island habitats, priority birds and practical plan for the week.
Day 2
Dry-country birding at Hellshire Hills
Work the Hellshire Hills dry forest for its Caribbean bird community, including possible Bahama Mockingbird and Stolid Flycatcher. Timing and exact stops follow access and current activity.
Day 3
First Blue Mountain field day
Move into cooler montane forest and begin searching for Arrowhead Warbler and Crested Quail-Dove, with Blue Mountain Vireo, Jamaican Blackbird and other highland birds also in focus.
Day 4
A second day in the highlands
Return to Blue Mountain forest for another chance at difficult endemics, using mixed flocks, calls and productive forest edges to shape the route.
Day 5
Across to the eastern rainforest
Travel toward Portland and begin birding in Jamaica’s wetter eastern forest, where parrots and a different habitat community come into focus.
Day 6
Portland and the eastern specialties
Continue in the range of Black-billed Streamertail while also watching for Jamaican Crow, Yellow-billed Parrot, Black-billed Parrot and any endemic gaps from earlier days.
Day 7
Breakfast and departure logistics
Finish the included meal sequence with breakfast, then follow the arranged Kingston or airport transfer. Any final observation depends on the confirmed departure schedule.
