About this tour

This standard Arrowhead one-day tour departs early from Kingston and climbs into the Blue Mountains, passing Newcastle before birding around Hardwar Gap at roughly 1,200 meters. The area lies within the Blue and John Crow Mountains landscape and is one of Jamaica's best highland birding zones, with coffee farms, forest patches and cool montane conditions.

The morning focuses on Blue Mountain targets and Jamaican endemics including Crested Quail-Dove, Jamaican Blackbird, Blue Mountain Vireo, Arrowhead Warbler and other highland species. After a lunch stop in or near Kingston, the afternoon continues at Hope Gardens, where Yellow-billed Parrots are a major highlight and Black-billed Parrots can also occur among the flocks.
