About this tour
The Aberdare Range brings together rolling highlands, waterfalls, montane forest and open moorland in one of central Kenya’s most varied protected landscapes. More than 200 bird species have been recorded across these elevation zones, including regional endemics and forest or moorland specialists.
Birding may be conducted from the vehicle and on selected walking trails, with the precise route chosen around weather, access and current activity. Horseback exploration is another possible format where separately arranged. The changing vegetation allows the day to move between forest-edge birds and species associated with the higher, more open country.
The park also supports substantial mammal diversity. Elephant, Buffalo, Warthog, Bushbuck, Olive Baboon, Spotted Hyena and Mount Kenya Guereza are among the possible encounters while traveling between birding areas. The trip remains bird-focused, and all bird and wildlife sightings depend on field conditions rather than being guaranteed.
