About this tour

Travel north from Nouakchott into Banc d’Arguin National Park, where Atlantic shallows, islands and desert shoreline support major concentrations of migratory waterbirds and seabirds. The route enters through Imraguen fishing communities and reaches Iwik for the first night in camp.

The central birding experience is a traditional lanche boat excursion among sanctuary islands. The operator highlights colonies of pink flamingos and Royal Terns, along with pelicans and many other coastal birds. The journey then continues through Arkeiss to Cape Tafarit, combining bird observation with broad ocean views and a second night of camping.

On the final day, the 4x4 route follows the coast through Nouamghar and returns to Nouakchott. The precise sequence, boat access and wildlife viewing depend on local conditions. Current price, availability and final meeting arrangements are confirmed after inquiry.
