Central Mexico: Michoacan Birding and Culture
An eight-day birding journey from Morelia through Michoacan wetlands, highland forests and cultural landscapes.
About this tour
Explore Michoacan on an eight-day birding journey based around Morelia, combining regional specialties with the landscapes, history and traditions of central Mexico.
The experience visits the wetlands of Lake Cuitzeo and Lake Patzcuaro for birds such as Aztec Rail and Black-polled Yellowthroat, then continues into oyamel and highland forest habitat where Red Warbler is among the signature species. The wider route can also include warmer lowland habitats, with time to enjoy Morelia, Purepecha culture and regional cuisine.
