About this tour
This private three-hour outing enters the Ria Lagartos Biosphere Reserve by boat with William Canto, a Rio Lagartos-based biologist, certified guide, birdwatcher and nature photographer. The route uses the estuary, mangrove channels and coastal wetland to combine bird observation with an explanation of the reserve’s ecology.
American Flamingos are a central interest, alongside herons, egrets, cormorants, White Ibis, Roseate Spoonbill, Wood Stork and American Oystercatcher. Mangrove birds, shorebirds and other regional species vary with season, tide and movement. Crocodiles and the meeting of estuary and sea may add context when conditions allow.
The confirmed starting amount is MXN 2,000 for a private party of one to six. William’s guiding and bird-focused interpretation are included; boat arrangements form part of the final proposal. Travel to Rio Lagartos, meals, personal spending, optional activities and any local fees are excluded unless expressly added.
Birding comes first, while the guide adjusts the boat route to current activity and flamingo location. Wildlife remains unpredictable, and neither the named birds nor a close photographic encounter can be guaranteed.

Day 1
Through the estuary and mangrove channels
Meet at the confirmed Rio Lagartos waterfront point and board the arranged boat. Follow current flamingo and waterbird activity through the reserve, scanning mangroves and wetland edges while William provides natural-history interpretation throughout the three-hour outing.
