Small-Group Namibia Comprehensive Tour
A small-group 19-day comprehensive Namibia and northwest Botswana journey, including the remote northeast, Etosha and Okavango, estimated at 375-425 species.
About this tour
This small-group 19-day program is the broadest Namibia route in the catalogue. It starts from Windhoek, crosses Spreetshoogte Pass and visits the Namib dunes, Sossusvlei and Deadvlei before reaching Walvis Bay. The Kuiseb Riverbed, coastal saltworks, Damaraland, Spitzkoppe and the Erongo Mountains form the western sequence.
The comprehensive itinerary then adds two days in northeastern Namibia before turning south into Etosha National Park. From Etosha it continues north again to the Kavango River, Gusu Woodlands and Shamvura, then east through Bwabwata and Mahango. A stay near Shakawe brings birding and wildlife viewing in the northwest Okavango Delta. Roy's Rest Camp and Waterberg Plateau close the route. The estimated total is 375-425 species.
Pace and difficulty are both rated moderate because of long transfers, frequent early starts and an ambitious sequence, although most observation is from roadsides or vehicles. Northern forest can require greater patience than the open desert and savanna. Bird activity is strongest from November to April, while mammals gather more predictably at dry-season waterholes from May to October.
