Leave the mountain setting of Boquete for the warmer lowlands of southern Chiriqui. This private morning with Jason Lara explores water-rich areas extending toward the Pacific coast. Flat farmland, winding streams and fields of rice or sugarcane provide a different landscape from the forested highland routes. Pineapple cultivation also forms part of the local agricultural setting.
Waterbirds and shorebirds are a central interest, alongside raptors, seed-eating birds and blackbirds. Great Blue Heron and Purple Gallinule are among the species named by the operator for this lowland outing. Jason selects the observation stops around your interests, without treating any particular sighting as certain. The mix of waterways and open country allows time to observe birds in several settings during a short visit.
Departure is around 7 am, and the standard excursion lasts four to five hours. Two or three birding stops are typical, with the morning ending before lunch. A picnic stop is possible if you bring food; additional hiking or sightseeing can be discussed when making arrangements. Expect warmer temperatures than around Boquete and choose comfortable walking clothes and footwear. A rain jacket, binoculars, camera and snacks are useful items to bring.
Jason offers bilingual guiding in English and Spanish and carries a spotting scope. The quote covers transportation from your Boquete location, entrance fees and one bottle of water for each guest. Collection from Caldera, David or Los Molinos is available at extra cost. The outing is private, with up to eight participants and a vehicle suited to the party. Meet for pickup around 7 am and travel into southern Chiriqui’s lowland habitats. Spend the morning at two or three observation stops near waterways, farmland and the coast. The four-to-five-hour outing ends before lunch, with an optional picnic stop if arranged and supplied by you.
