About this tour
This five-day Chaco route combines Humid Chaco birding near Benjamin Aceval with the Dry Chaco, Laguna Capitan, Campo Maria, Chaco Lodge or Filadelfia Reserve, Fortin Toledo and Neuland reserve areas.
The route can produce about 210 to 240 bird species and highlights salty lakes, thorn forest, Chaco endemics, night birding and supporting mammals. It is suited to birders who want a compact but intensive Chaco experience from Asuncion.

Itinerary ▼
Leave very early toward Laguna Capitan, birding at Benjamin Aceval in the Humid Chaco and continuing to the salty lakes for afternoon birding and wildlife watching.
Spend the morning birding and wildlife watching at the salt lakes, then continue to Campo Maria or Chaco Lodge for Chaco endemics and evening activity.
Bird Chaco Lodge or Filadelfia Reserve depending on weather and bird activity, targeting dry-forest and open-country Chaco species.
Visit Fortin Toledo and the Tagua Conservation Project, then continue birding in a Neuland reserve during the afternoon.
Use two to three hours for early birding at a Neuland reserve, then return to Asuncion.
