Small-Group Manu Lowlands Tour
A small-group Manu lowlands journey by boat along the Rio Madre de Dios, linking Amazonia Lodge, Pantiacolla and Manu Wildlife Center for an estimated 425-500 species.
About this tour
This small-group lowlands journey continues from the end of Manu Road into the Amazon Basin along the Rio Madre de Dios. A morning boat transfer reaches Amazonia Lodge, followed by a full day on the lodge grounds. The route then proceeds by river to Pantiacolla Reserve for another concentrated forest stay.
The latter section travels farther downstream to Manu Wildlife Center, where two full days are assigned to the surrounding lowland forest. Boat-based birding, level forest trails and possible canopy viewing provide access to several layers of habitat. The final transfer continues to Puerto Maldonado for a flight to Cusco or Lima.
The pace and difficulty are both rated easy. Dry-season travel from May through October generally brings more activity at macaw clay licks and firmer trails, while wetter months may improve boat access to flooded forest. The diversity estimate is 425-500 species, subject to conditions. Send an inquiry through BirdWatch to discuss the schedule, lodge choice, availability and pricing.
