Intavas and Mount Kitanglad Birding with The Big Birder
Follow the mountain trails above Intavas for Mindanao forest birds, with a flexible guided route and opportunities to watch for Philippine Eagle.
About this tour
Above Intavas, a short initial hike leads into the birding trails on Mount Kitanglad. The main search follows a relatively short section of the mountain path and adjoining trails, giving time to examine mixed flocks, fruiting trees and undergrowth.
Apo Myna, Red-eared Parrotfinch and White-cheeked Bullfinch are among the birds sought. Feeding activity changes with fruit and flowers. Guests interested in a longer climb can discuss a higher-elevation search for Apo Sunbird around 2,000 meters.
Lower viewpoints facing the mountain offer a chance to look for Philippine Eagle in flight. Even several mornings may pass without a sighting. Access from Manila is via Cagayan de Oro, and other Bukidnon birding sites can be considered as extensions. The length and walking scope are tailored to the group.
Birding route
Bird the main Intavas trail and side paths, spending time at productive feeding areas and eagle viewpoints. Discuss the higher climb separately when planning the walking demands and length of the trip.
