About this tour
A ROCHA Life offers a menu of guided day tours rather than one fixed circuit. Depending on the weekday and preferred duration, birders can explore Ria Formosa, Sagres, Monchique, Lagoa dos Salgados, Castro Verde, Ria de Alvor, Abicada or the Alvor dunes. A seasonal orchid outing is also offered in early spring.
These sites cover saltpans, lagoons, reedbeds, coastal cliffs, dunes, cork-oak hills, marshes and Alentejo pseudo-steppe. Programmes range from a three-hour walk to a long Castro Verde day, so distance and pace depend on the selected option.
Guiding, local driving, a checklist, use of field guides and a drink are included in the published day-tour format.
