About this tour

From November through March, Skåne becomes a strong winter destination for large birds of prey. White-tailed and Golden Eagles share the wider landscape with Red Kites, Common and Rough-legged Buzzards, falcons and harriers, while flocks of geese and wintering waterbirds add variety.

Woodland stops can provide Black, Green and Great Spotted Woodpeckers. Owls remain less predictable, but Tawny and Long-eared Owls are among the more regular possibilities around the Øresund, with Short-eared Owl and rarer northern species occasionally appearing. Waxwings, Nutcrackers and Great Grey Shrikes are also possible during suitable irruption years.

The six- to seven-hour private outing crosses from Copenhagen into southern Sweden and uses several known sites within roughly an hour of the city. Weather, daylight and current reports determine the final route. The focus is patient field observation rather than guaranteed sightings.
