About this tour
This week-long Footsteps Eco-Lodge birding package gives you three full days in the field with a local guide, while leaving the remaining days open for independent time at the lodge or other plans. The base is near Gunjur on The Gambia’s west coast. The three outings are chosen with the guest rather than fixed to particular calendar days or a predetermined sequence of reserves.
Footsteps describes several possible birdwatching days: Lamin Lodge and Abuko Nature Reserve combine waterways and protected woodland; Tanji focuses on coastal birding; Marakissa, Darsalami and Siffoe bring a different mix of wooded and open habitats. Other options include the Mandinaba and Faraba rice-field area, Banjul with Kotu and Fajara, and wetlands close to Footsteps. The final three are agreed with the operator according to interests, conditions and availability. Birds shown in the gallery are representative photographs from the operator’s Gambian collection, not a promise of sightings on any chosen outing.
The published £490 per-person birding-package price covers three full guided birdwatching days, entry fees for the selected birding sites, daily breakfast, a packed lunch and two-course dinner, plus private airport transfers. It does not include accommodation, international flights or alcoholic drinks. Guests choose and pay separately for a self-catered villa, a roundhouse with bed and breakfast, or a budget chalet.
