This three-day Entebbe and Mabamba break offers an accessible introduction to Uganda's lakeshore, garden and papyrus birds. Depending on arrival time, the first afternoon can include Entebbe birding before a full session in the Botanical Gardens, where mature trees, open lawns and the Lake Victoria shoreline support turacos, weavers, kingfishers, sunbirds and other local species.
The final day travels to Mabamba Wetland for canoe birding through papyrus channels. Shoebill is the headline target, with possibilities including Papyrus Gonolek, jacanas, gallinules, herons, egrets and seasonal wetland visitors. The pace is suitable for a short private birding weekend based in Entebbe.

Meet the guide in Entebbe and transfer to the accommodation. Depending on arrival time, visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre or bird around the lakeshore for weavers, kingfishers, sunbirds and other Entebbe species.
Spend the day birding the Botanical Gardens for Great Blue and Ross’s Turacos, cuckoos, widowbirds, kingfishers, woodpeckers, bishops and sunbirds, with a picnic lunch in the gardens.
Travel to Mabamba Wetland and explore the papyrus channels by canoe, looking for Shoebill, Papyrus Gonolek, White-winged Swamp Warbler, jacanas, gallinules, herons, egrets and other wetland birds before returning to Entebbe.
