About this tour

This full-day Kauaʻi birding adventure links the island’s wet forest, canyon country, coastal lagoons and wetlands. The route climbs toward Kōkeʻe and Waimea Canyon for Hawaiian honeycreepers and Kauaʻi ʻElepaio, then seeks waterbirds, shorebirds and other island specialties in lower-elevation habitat.

Guests travel with an expert guide and make short walks on uneven ground that can be wet. Field time in montane forest occurs above 4,000 feet, where conditions can be cool and rainy before the day returns to the warmer coast. The exact route follows current access, weather and bird activity.

Weekly group departures run from mid-August through late June for four to eight people, with a private option for up to 10. The published day includes transport from selected Kauaʻi meeting points, park entrance fees, water, snacks and online checklists. Lunch is purchased during a local stop. Species and seasonal specialties remain possibilities rather than guarantees.
