DeKorte Park Winter Raptor Bird Walk
A two-hour guided birdwatching walk with Lindsay McNamara at Richard W. DeKorte Park, welcoming beginner birders.
About this tour
Look for winter birds on a raptor-themed guided walk at Richard W. DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst. Beachy Birder Adventures offers this December outing from 10 am until noon, with Lindsay McNamara guiding a group of no more than 25 participants. The theme provides a focus for the morning, while the birds actually seen depend on the day’s conditions.
You do not need an extensive bird list or specialist equipment to take part. Lindsay welcomes beginner birders and encourages questions, curiosity and careful observation. Loan binoculars and a spotting scope are available, helping guests study birds more closely. If you already have binoculars, bring them along.
The normal public-walk format is about two miles over two hours, with stops and a gentle pace. Choose warm layers and closed-toe footwear for a winter morning and carry water or a snack. Ask through BirdWatch about participation, meeting arrangements and any accessibility requirements. The walk is an opportunity to develop birdwatching skills in company, with no guaranteed raptor sightings.
