An eleven-day Zambia birding expedition linking Lochinvar, southern Kafue, Choma and the Lower Zambezi for African Pitta and national endemics.
About this tour
Combine four of Zambia's strongest birding areas on an eleven-day route focused on national endemics, wetland concentrations and one of Africa's most sought-after migrants.
Lochinvar National Park and the Kafue Flats hold exceptional waterbird diversity, with Grey Crowned Crane, Wattled Crane, Slaty Egret, African Skimmer and large numbers of migrant waders and terns. Southern Kafue National Park is explored for the localized Black-cheeked Lovebird, while the Choma area offers excellent chances for the endemic Zambian Barbet and a range of miombo specialists.
The final section visits the Lower Zambezi, a breeding stronghold for African Pitta. Accommodation combines two- and three-star lodging with mobile camp, and the published package includes transport, guiding, accommodation, catering and activities.

Begin among the floodplains and dry-country margins of Lochinvar, searching for cranes, Slaty Egret, African Skimmer, migrant waders, terns and seasonal grassland birds.
Continue to the Lake Itezhi-tezhi area in southern Kafue National Park, with the localized Black-cheeked Lovebird as a central target.
Bird around Choma and Nkanga River Conservation Area for Zambian Barbet and miombo specialists including Shelley’s Sunbird, Miombo Pied Barbet, Racket-tailed Roller, Spotted Creeper, Arnot’s Chat and Cabanis’s Bunting.
Finish in the Lower Zambezi area, one of Zambia's breeding strongholds for the elusive African Pitta.
