A private Zimbabwe birding journey from Harare to Pedza Pasi in the Dande Valley, focused on African Pitta and Zambezi lowveld specialists.
About this tour
Travel from Harare into the Dande Valley for four days of immersive birding around Pedza Pasi, a private wilderness camp set among dry woodland, mopane, open bushveld and seasonal riverine habitat feeding the Zambezi system.
Gary and Jono guide quiet road, vehicle and walking sessions for African Pitta and other lowveld specialists. The route also creates opportunities for miombo birds on the journey, escarpment raptors, mixed flocks and species associated with the Zambezi Valley. The final travel day returns to Harare for an overnight before departure.

Itinerary
Day 1
Harare arrival and guide welcome
Meet at Harare International Airport, transfer to the Harare hotel and join Gary and Jono for an evening introduction.
Day 2
Harare to Pedza Pasi
Travel toward the Zambezi Valley while birding miombo and escarpment habitats. Continue through communal lands to Pedza Pasi and begin the African Pitta search if time permits.
Day 3
Pedza Pasi woodland and riverine birding
Work the camp area carefully by vehicle and on foot, focusing on African Pitta and lowveld specialists across mopane, woodland and riverine fringes.
Day 4
Pedza Pasi mixed flocks and raptors
Use early and late sessions for mixed flocks, woodland birds and raptor activity, adapting the route to current conditions.
Day 5
Return to Harare
Bird productive miombo and rocky habitats on the return journey, then spend the final night in Harare.
Day 6
Harare departure
Transfer to Harare International Airport for the confirmed onward flight.
