Private Costanera Sur Birding Tour from Buenos Aires
Explore lagoons, reedbeds, woodland and grassland at Costanera Sur on a private half-day walk only minutes from central Buenos Aires.
About this tour
Costanera Sur places remarkably varied bird habitat beside the Buenos Aires skyline. Spanning over 350 protected hectares beside the Río de la Plata, its lagoons, reedbeds, riparian woodland and open grassland form into one of South America’s most accessible urban birding sites.
The usual half-day follows flat trails at a relaxed pace, covering roughly 5–6 km on foot. Scanning open water may reveal swans, pochards, herons and Southern Screamer, while reed edges, woodland and flowering trees shift the search toward rails, tanagers, orioles, cardinals, hummingbirds and seasonal visitors.
Pickup and return in Buenos Aires are included, and a full-day version is available for a deeper circuit. The route changes with water levels, season and recent bird activity, so named birds remain possibilities rather than guaranteed sightings. Early morning is generally most productive in warmer months.
