Private Samborombón Bay Pampas Birding Day Tour
Follow the Pampas south to Samborombón Bay on a private full day linking grassland, tala woodland, marsh, tidal channels and coastal flats.
About this tour
Samborombón Bay marks the meeting of the Pampas and the Río de la Plata estuary. South of Buenos Aires, rural roads cross low floodplain grasslands, remnant tala woodland, rushbeds, drainage channels and broad tidal flats, each supporting a different set of birds.
The day is largely vehicle-supported, with easy walks and observation stops chosen for water levels, access and season. Grassland searches may produce Spotted Nothura, Greater Rhea, harriers and Hudson’s Canastero; woodland remnants add furnariids; coastal marsh and mudflat sections bring spoonbills, ibis, flamingos, migratory shorebirds and the possibility of Olrog’s Gull.
Private guiding, Buenos Aires pickup and return, breakfast, lunch and water are included. The transition from inland grassland to the estuary shapes the sequence, while wind, tide and migration influence the final choice of sites. A multi-day format is available for farther southern reserves, while the full-day format introduces the northern bay habitats.
