Diego Gallegos presents the Urban Reserves outing as a great start for Argentina birding within Buenos Aires and the nearby outskirts.
The route visits two local spots: Ciudad Universitaria/public university grounds and Vicente Lopez Reserve, using parks, vegetated ponds and riverside humid forest.
The official description highlights herons, coots, teals, ducks, rails, caracaras, hawks, doves, parrots, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, woodcreepers and common Buenos Aires park birds.
An optional Ribera Norte Reserve extension may be possible at short notice when trail and tide conditions allow.

Meet in Buenos Aires and bird two accessible urban/reserve sites for a first sample of Argentina birdlife, including waterbirds, park birds, parrots, woodpeckers and wetland species.
