About this tour
This Northeast Argentina journey links four contrasting birding areas. It begins around Ceibas and the Paraná Delta, continues through the wetlands and Humid Chaco habitats of Iberá, crosses the forested hills of Misiones and finishes among the Atlantic Forest trails around Iguazú Falls.
The route is designed around habitat changes. Grasslands near Ceibas hold seedeaters and other open-country birds; Iberá adds lagoons, marshes and forest islands for species such as Strange-tailed Tyrant, Jabiru and Crested Doradito; and the Misiones section turns to subtropical forest, including Salto Encantado and Urugua-í. Iguazú combines rainforest birding with time around the falls and their trail network. Every named bird and mammal remains a possible observation, not a guaranteed sighting.

Day 0
Arrival in Buenos Aires
Reach Buenos Aires and use the remainder of the day to rest before an overnight stay in the city.
Day 1
Buenos Aires to Ceibas
Drive to Ceibas for a first session across savanna, grassland and woodland habitats, with birding and photography stops before the overnight stay.
Day 2
Northern Paraná Delta wetlands
Explore wetland sites in the northern Paraná River Delta. An evening search for owls may be added before returning to Ceibas.
Day 3
Ceibas grassland birding
Concentrate on open-country specialists around Ceibas, including a possible search for Saffron-cowled Blackbird, then travel back to Buenos Aires.
Day 4
Flight to Posadas and Iberá
Fly to Posadas and continue overland toward the Loreto gateway of Iberá, birding on the journey and visiting the lodge feeders before the overnight stop.
Day 5
Loreto forest islands and lagoons
Search Humid Chaco woodland, lagoons and grasslands near Loreto for regional birds such as Strange-tailed Tyrant. A boat or kayak outing into the wetlands is included in the sample plan.
Day 6
Paraná tributaries and Cambyretá
Bird along tributaries of the Paraná River, then enter Iberá through the Cambyretá gateway for further wetland and wildlife observation.
Day 7
Full day in Iberá
Spend a full field day inside Iberá National Park, combining bird searches with observation of the reserve’s wider wildlife before a second night near Cambyretá.
Day 8
Corrientes to the Misiones hills
Leave Corrientes for Misiones, using stops in the first uplands to introduce new habitats and species before reaching Santa Ana.
Day 9
Salto Encantado forest
Work the central Misiones hills around Salto Encantado, combining forest birding with the park’s viewpoints and focused species searches.
Day 10
Toward Iguazú
Continue north with birding stops on the way to Iguazú, followed by an afternoon visit to the Hummingbird Garden.
Day 11
Iguazú National Park
Devote the day to forest trails and viewpoints in Iguazú National Park, allowing time for both birds and the wider wildlife around the falls.
Day 12
Urugua-í rainforest corridor
Search the Urugua-í forest corridor for less conspicuous Atlantic Forest species, including Black-fronted Piping-Guan, then return toward Iguazú. A lodge stay is an optional variation.
Day 13
Final birding and return flight
Use the morning for a last birding session near Iguazú before flying to Buenos Aires for the final evening.
Day 14
Departure
Conclude the sample programme in Buenos Aires and connect with the onward international flight.
