Cyanistes teneriffae (Lesson, RP, 1831)
African Blue Tit, Cyanistes teneriffae, is a passerine of the tit family found in northern Africa and the Canary Islands. It is a resident bird of temperate forests, with breeding populations on Tenerife and Gran Canaria and smaller numbers on Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. It is a compact, sharp-billed tit, and the nominate form shows a white forehead and eyebrow, a deep blue crown, a darker neck, blue upperparts and yellow underparts. It was once treated as the same species as the Eurasian blue tit.
