Private Two-Day High Atlas Birding from Marrakesh
A private two-day route from Marrakesh through the valleys, forests and high-elevation habitats around Asni and Imlil, with an overnight stay in the Atlas Mountains.
About this tour
Leave Marrakesh for two days of private birding in the High Atlas, using Asni and Imlil as gateways to mountain valleys, forest, riverside habitat, terraced fields and rocky slopes. The change in elevation creates a varied route for travelers who want more field time than a single-day excursion can provide.
The first day concentrates on the Asni area. Birding stops can include wooded valleys, river margins and open high-country terrain, with possibilities such as Moussier's Redstart, Levaillant's Woodpecker, Atlas Horned Lark, Rock Sparrow, Alpine Accentor and Alpine Chough. After lunch and further afternoon birding, the tour stays overnight in the Ourika area.
After breakfast on day two, the route continues toward Imlil. Valleys, gorges, terraced fields, juniper woodland and rocky slopes offer a different mix of habitats. African Blue Tit, Black Wheatear, Tristram's Warbler, Crimson-winged Finch and Barbary Falcon are among the species named for the official program. Wild-bird sightings always depend on season and current conditions.
Hotel pickup and round-trip transport from Marrakesh, English-speaking birding guidance, one night of accommodation, lunch on day one and a picnic lunch on day two are included. The exact price depends on the number of participants and is confirmed after inquiry.
