African Golden Oriole, Oriolus auratus, is a widespread breeding bird across Africa and a member of the oriole family. It lives in thick bush and other wooded places, where it spends much of its time in the canopy. Its nest is a hanging, basket-like structure placed in a tree, and it lays two eggs. It feeds on insects and fruit, with figs especially important. The species was described by Vieillot in 1817.
