Alexandrine Parakeet

The Alexandrine Parakeet is a vibrant and intelligent parrot species native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. These medium-sized parakeets are known for their striking plumage and loud, screeching calls. They are predominantly green with a red patch on their shoulders and a distinct maroon-colored beak. Alexandrine Parakeets are often found in open woodlands, agricultural areas, and urban environments, where they feed on a variety of seeds, fruits, and nuts. They are known for their acrobatic flight and social behavior, often forming large flocks. Despite facing habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade, the conservation status of the Alexandrine Parakeet is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
