Andean Gull

Andean Gull, Chroicocephalus serranus, is a gull of the Andes in South America, breeding from far south-west Colombia through Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia to southern Chile and south-west Argentina. Some birds also move to the nearby Pacific coast outside the breeding season. It is a member of the Laridae family and was described by Tschudi in 1844. In the breeding season it uses high-altitude lakes, bogs, marshes and puna and páramo fields, and nests on riverbanks and on islands in rivers and lakes.
