Ash-breasted Sierra Finch, Geospizopsis plebejus, is a bird of the high Andes in western and south-western South America, with a breeding range across Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Bolivia and Argentina. It belongs to the tanager family, Thraupidae. It is a small sierra-finch with a short tail, and the species is split into three recognised subspecies. It lives in open highland country, including dry puna grassland, rocky slopes, deserts, cactus-covered slopes, forest edge and other sparse habitats, and it also uses villages and overgrazed pasture.
