Barbary partridge

Alectoris barbara

The Barbary partridge is a medium-sized bird native to North Africa. It has a distinctive appearance with a grayish-brown plumage, bold black and white markings on the face, and a red bill. These birds are often found in rocky and hilly areas, where they forage for seeds, insects, and vegetation. They are known for their melodious calls and are often seen in small groups or pairs. The Barbary partridge is well-adapted to its arid and semi-arid habitat, using its cryptic plumage to blend into the surroundings and avoid predators. Although not currently considered at risk, habitat loss and hunting pose potential threats to their populations.
