Bare-cheeked Trogon, Apaloderma aequatoriale, is a bird of lowland rainforest in west-central Africa, with breeding records from south-eastern Nigeria through southern Gabon and central to north-eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. It belongs to the trogons and was described by Sharpe in 1901. Its key feature is the bright yellow bare skin on the face, which sets it apart from the Narina Trogon. It also has a shorter tail and smaller size than that species. The bird uses tree cavities for nesting and is found in the forest interior.
