Procnias averano (Hermann, 1783)

Bearded Bellbird, Procnias averano, is a passerine of northern South America in the cotinga family. It occurs in the region’s north and east, with the nominate form restricted to northeastern Brazil and the other form recorded from Trinidad, Venezuela, Colombia, Guyana, eastern Bolivia and northern Brazil. In moist tropical forest, the male is marked by several black, bare wattles hanging from the throat, which set it apart. The species is also known as the campanero or anvil-bird. The male gives a loud, repeated metallic hammering call, along with other vocalisations.
